Vintage Denim x Flannel Skirt
Hello loves. It's October! The leaves are changing, the weather is chilly, and pumpkins are everywhere. I am so thrilled. Not that I didn't like summer, but fall and winter just makes me so happy. It's the holiday season, the coziness, the family gatherings and all of the layering! I cannot keep track of how many times I mention that I simply love the cooler weather. It brings out a different side of fashion that I absolutely adore.
For me, fall in Oregon is chilly so it is the perfect canvas for me to put all the new trends on and test them out. Although, I've always had this New York vibe going on. I just always put an east coast or international spin on the styling. I love mixing and matching patterns and textures. Nothing was really out of bounds with me because there was none. Some would call that streetstyle since it didn't adhere to common style genres. I was always adventurous and whimsical in spirit and in my fashion styling.
Here, I put together a very casual look with an little black dress, leather vest, vintage denim jacket, and a flannel styled to look like a skirt. To finish the look, I layered black tights and leopard chelsea boots. An effortless look that can go from day to night by taking off layer by layer. Never needing to stop at home for an outfit change and what's better, you can find almost, not if all of these pieces already in your wardrobe!
Since the red and black flannel pops and has bigger patterns, I chose the leopard chelsea boots with a smaller pattern to neutralize but add more individuality to a rather common wardrobe piece in the fall. There needs to be a balance when mixing and matching.
When you layer, keep in mind that you layer from thin to thickest, That way, there's a method to the madness with no frumpiness going on. Like how I wore a form fitting mock turtle neck lbd and layered looser items over it.
Don't be afraid to experiment and find your own style. Find a way where fashion helps you extend who you are. The style that makes you feel empowered and at home. Let me know what you want to see next. Maybe leave a comment? Or tag me in your own streetstyle inspirations using #stylemyescape.
Till next time,
